DraftCut ("we", "us", "our") operates the DraftCut podcast editing application. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your personal data. By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

We collect the following categories of information:

• Account data: your name, email address, and a securely hashed version of your password.
• Audio and transcript data: audio files and transcripts you upload while using the Service.
• Usage data: session events, feature interactions, and error logs used to improve the product.
• Technical data: IP address, browser type, device information, and session identifiers.

We use the information we collect to:

• Deliver and operate the Service.
• Send your audio to our transcription processor and return the resulting transcript to you.
• Manage your account and process billing.
• Detect and prevent fraud and security incidents.
• Produce aggregate, anonymized analytics to improve the product. We do not sell your personal data.

We share data with third-party processors only to the extent necessary to operate the Service. Current processors include Cloudflare (CDN and security), a transcription service provider (audio processing), and a payment processor (billing). Each processor is bound by a data processing agreement and is not permitted to use your data for their own independent purposes.

We retain your audio files and transcripts for as long as your account is active. If you close your account, your audio files and transcripts will be permanently deleted within 30 days. Account metadata may be retained for a limited period for legal and billing compliance purposes.

We protect your data using TLS encryption for all data in transit and encryption at rest for stored files. Access to user data is restricted to personnel who require it to operate and maintain the Service.

You may request access to, correction of, or permanent deletion of your personal data at any time by contacting us at privacy@draftcut.app. We will respond to your request within 30 days.

We use session cookies solely to maintain your authenticated session. We do not use third-party advertising cookies or tracking pixels.

The Service is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information without parental consent, please contact us at privacy@draftcut.app and we will delete that information promptly.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting a notice within the product or by email before the changes take effect. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
